Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Unhappy Grizzly victim knew risks of living with bears, friends say

Never, ever step outside into the food chain without the means to remain on top. It appears the poor fellow knew better, but he let his guard down. Only he knows why he went out unarmed that day, knowing what he knew as a guide.

I was tempted to leave my life assurance policy at home the other day. After all, I was just running to the store. Then I chastised myself - a fellow I'd known for a long time was murdered there, not too long ago, and in February, there was an armed robbery. So, I grabbed two policies and went to the store. Never get lax. You only have to be wrong once.

Bear spray residue found on Mock’s clothing suggested he tried to ward off last week’s attack using a canister of the Mace-like deterrent, considered an essential item in the backcountry. He usually carried a pistol, too, but wasn’t on the day he was killed just a few miles north of the small town of West Yellowstone where he lived, according to two friends.

Like Sanders said, never put yourself in a situation where you're not at the top of the food chain.

That fisherman was eaten in an environmentally-friendly manner.

If I had a choice of only handgun or bear spray I would choose the bear spray. The best choice in my opinion would be a combination of bear spray and a shotgun with alternating rounds of slugs and buckshot.

Those of us who have shot lots of big game have observed that low velocity rounds do not kill as quickly as a large bullet at higher velocity. Getting up into the 2400 fps range is far more effective than the 1400 fps range of a shotgun. That does not mean I would not use a shotgun for bear defense, but I would not expect deep penetration or rapid results.

Yup both my .308 & .416 are loaded to 2400 fps! If I lived in bear country my .416 would go with me loaded with solids & soft points.
