Ruger 57......
Anyone have or carry one?
This afternoon, after I dropped the wife off at her Dr. appointment, I had about an hour to kill. So I went to the License Bureau and renewed the license plate tabs for my Silverado, dropped by the bank and cashed a $34 check, and to waste the rest of my time, I stopped at the local Fun Shop. They actually had 13 handguns in the display case, and maybe 50 long guns in the wall display cases. One of the handguns I asked to check out, was a Ruger 57. As he ejected the mag, removed the trigger lock and cleared the weapon, he says, you're gonna like this 'surprise'........as he hands it to me. Wow, it was LIGHT! For as 'large' as it is, I was expecting it to be considerably heavier. I like it! https://ruger.com/products/ruger57/models.html https://ruger.com/products/ruger57/s...ets/16401.html Oh, they were getting 31 more firearms in this afternoon. He didn't elaborate on 'what models', or if there was any ammo in the shipment. |

I haven't decided as to whether or not to buy it. But holy sheet! It feels damn nice in my hand. I've heard darn good things about this pistol and the rounds it shoots. The Fun Shop did actually have a box of 50 Hornady Critical Defense rounds for it......for $60. I'd need the pistol to function flawlessly for 500 rounds, before I even think about using it for my EDC. |

I think Pogo was looking to get one, don't know if he ever did.

I got off work early due to a Dr. appointment (for me this time), and dropped by the Fun Shop and dropped the cash for one, plus 50 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 'Personal Protection' ammo. Just shy of $712.00 for everything, including sales tax.
I need to go to the Fun Shop 2 hours west of my place, and grab some 5.7x28 FMJ. Maybe next weekend. Spring Safety meeting at work in the morning. |

All the reviews I've seen on the Youtube have been positive. Some have even declared it to be more reliable than the FN in the same caliber.
Ammo was a bitch before the current troubles. Like my 350 Legend, ammo is the weak link.

Next weekend when I venture 100 miles west, I will be seeking 5.7x28mm.....in medium quantities (you know, a 'sensible purchase' of say, 1K rounds or more). I really hated to 'add another caliber' to the stable but.... OK, no, I didn't. Yes, I did! But the opportunity arose, and I snatched it from some anti 2A fucktard, wishing to restrict my Rights, as a law abiding gun owner. |

Sad to say, I sold my Ruger 57 today. I sold it for exactly what I paid for it + sales tax, and ONE 50 round box of ammo (that had maybe 25 rounds left).
I bought it on a 'whim', with no real reason to buy it, other than the fact that, it was 'in the store, had a cool factor', when I was there......and looking for 'something out of the ordinary'. I liked shooting it. Did I need it?, No. I have enough 9mm Luger, .45 ACP, and .22LR handguns to 'fill any void'. Did I want to sell it? No. I hate selling any firearm. He who dies with the most guns wins, right? However, due to my current financial situation, without 'digging into my investments', I had almost no choice. The buyer paid exactly what I paid for it, + the cost of the ammo & sales tax. |
