Who has any experience with ACOG rifle scopes

I have only JUST begun to explore ACOGS. I like the idea of NO batteries. I see they are caliber and barrel length specific as that prob coincides with BDC. No?

I have 2, one on a M4 and one on a A4..one is a TA31F the other is ill have to look at it again to remember

....Both of mine have the style with the chevron reticle....I like them

The more that I explore the ACOG's the more I become settled on one. I like Mil-Spec.

The real deal military version aint cheap or real readily available to the general public are they? As far as batteries go my Aimpoint aint never been turned off. The battery life is something crazy like 10,000 hours.

Boon, the Aimpoint CompM4 (using 1 AA battery) has a battery life of 80.000 hours. What is that? 7 years? So if you have a couple of extra AA batteries, you are basically set for life.

FWIW, the Aimpoint an ACOG's are two different animals and not really comparable. Apples vs oranges.

I am in love with the acog. I have a 3x for an AR10, and two 4x for .223s. They are clear and super durable. There is nothing better, especially when in a larue mount. And that from a guy with 5K invested in them. I can hit a 24 in. manhole cover at 600 yards every shot with any of my acogs. Not bad for a 3x optic.

Let me emphasize that I think acogs are absolutely great. They are perfect for 25 yards to 600 yards while the Eotech is best for indoors.

It was the 4x TA31-something mounted on an AR15.

I just purchased a 4x32, TA31F, ACOG. It will be the first of several, I think. The rifle sight designed to reliably put hot lead into the bodies of jihadis.

I've had that same scope for about 4 or 5 years. A little trivia, the Marines call them the Jesus scopes, because the serial number includes a scripture verse. Mine does. The atheists may have put a stop to that though. I have the solid red triangle reticle. I like it because it allows precision shooting using the top point of the triangle and still provides rapid target acquisition close up. The Binden Aiming Concept (BAC) feature for CQB snap shooting takes a little practice to get used to. Some folks have more trouble than others getting used to it. As you probably know, it's designed to be used with both eyes open with the focus on the target and not the reticle. It quickly transitions to a magnified view once on target for a second or two. I found that the scope is more that sufficient for distance work without sacrificing a CQB capability. No batteries is a nice thing too. I've heard the tritium lasts about 12 years and you can have a new tritium source installed by Trijicon when needed for around $200 last time I checked. Be advised that the fiber optic tube will appear to have hairline cracks throughout it over time or even from the time of purchase. It's normal and unless it leaks, it's not a problem. You've got an excellent piece of gear there. Don't know if it's true, but I've heard it said that if your weapon gets run over, the rifle may be destroyed but the scope will be fine. I don't want to test it.

I recall that bit about the communists and the mosloms whining about the "scripture" in the serial number on the scopes. I am sure it is no longer included. I purchased one with a red "chevron." I was really wanting one with a green chevron. I got such a hell of a deal on this one from a Ranger, down at Ft. Bragg, that after we talked, I could only say "sold." Hell, I am sure I will be happy with red illumination....

I have been working to up-grade my "close quarters game," since last Summer. I wish we had had the ACOG's in Vietnam. I am almost as blind as a fucking bat these days so I am equipping all of my, go-to toys, with some kind of glass.
