Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Got a dilemma - TOPS knives

Okay, I first started looking at this company's knives after seeing a video review on this one - a survival type knife to use as a camping/hunting knife.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZLQPSH...v_ov_lig_dp_it

But then I got to researching other options and found that I really like this Bushcraft type knife with the Scandinavian type grind:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FI8EWDE...v_ov_lig_dp_it

They are close enough in price to take that out of the equation.

I have an old Air Force survival knife that I use around camp, but I want something with a little more heft to it and don't want to buy something made in China or Pakistan.

The survival type knife is more for camp chores, and can be a good hunting/fighting knife. The bushcraft knife allows for camp chores, plus is a little more agile and precise for carving with. I'm sure it will skin something out just fine, too, though. (If I find myself in a knife fight, then I seriously messed up somewhere.)

I say...

1095 is great but there's something to be said about the "super steels" when used in a timeless style.

I wound up going with the Apache Dawn shown on the first link. But I purchased it off ebay for just a few dollars less.

It's definitely a robust knife. I'll be testing it out on an upcoming camping trip, but I won't be abusing it by trying to cut down a tree and build a fort or anything so stupid.

I doubt I'll ever spend that kind of money on another knife........until after next week, at least.

JD damn I love that little pistol. I saw it before and was getting set to head over to Daytona Fla. Gun Exchange my fun shop and this damn niqqer riot stuff started and so much for that. Prices and supply went bye bye.
I think they called that the 'Sheriff gun' in the old west cause they could draw it fast close range. Then put a .45 hole in the guy looked like a cannon hit em.

I was going to mention the K Bar. It will do most any camp chore satisfactorily, plus more. Good solid work knife. If you need something for real small work just use your pocket knife.

I like a stout knife, but I prefer not to get the blade over 5 inches for the things I do. Plus, my wrists are not strong enough for a full sized Ka Bar or Bowie.

Well, it was definitely capable and certainly holds an edge, even with some of the intentional abuse I put it through, since the factory offers free sharpening service, I figured why not?

Wife and I also practiced fire making skills using a ferrocium rod and steel.
