Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default CMP is running low on Garands - cuts annual purchase limit

Looks like the inevitable is about to happen - the one thing we prayed we'd never see happen, but had to happen given enough time.

CMP is running out of rifles.

If you've been procrastinating making a purchase, I suggest getting one as soon as you are able to. Otherwise, you will be stuck paying stupid high retail prices for a surplus Garand.

Quote:
Yearly Rifle Limit Decrease & Rifle Case Update

Effective October 1, 2023, the CMP’s new yearly limit on M1 Garands will be 6 per calendar year. If you have already purchased 6-8 M1 Garands in calendar year 2023, you will not be allowed to purchase more M1 Garands until January 2024.

Due to supply issues and customer feedback, CMP will no longer offer a free rifle case with every rifle purchase. Customers will receive one free rifle case per calendar year with their first purchase of an M1 Garand in each calendar year. Rifles not shipped in a rifle case, will be shipped in a custom (made for specifically for CMP) corrugated cardboard box with convoluted foam. Rifle cases will be eligible for purchase when quantity permits. This does not apply to pistol orders. All CMP 1911 pistols will be shipped in a pistol case.

To comply with all firearm regulations, each rifle and pistol purchased from CMP will include a gun lock.

Thank you for your support of the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

In the past several years, the M1 Garand, regardless of condition, has become a very hot collectors’ item and sound financial investment. The popularity of the M1 Garand continues to grow as hundreds of new Garand “Fun” Matches are being held all across the USA each year.

Over the past 65 years, most M1 rifles have been arsenal rebuilt, refinished, rebarreled or repaired at least once and often several times. Most will show signs of service (often considerable) and replacement of various parts. They are seldom encountered with all original parts and original finish as delivered from the manufacturer. Such “original” rifles, even in well-used condition, are highly prized by collectors.

Effective July 4, 2022, Fed Ex will now require all Adult Signature packages (rifles/ammo/pistols) to have a person 21 or older at the residence or FFL Dealer and the Fed Ex driver will scan their license/government id. The new Fed Ex policy will not allow them to deliver the items with scanning the driver licenses/government id (must be 21 or over).

Inevitable is probably the correct term here. CMP is probably selling these M1s by the boatload. 5.4 million were manufactured for WWII which sounds like a lot but it had to run out eventually.
If sales come to an end the prices will go through the roof.

The prices are already too much. For years a service grade garand was $500. Now $500 gets you a non shooter drill rifle.

Did the Korean Garands ever get imported?

I suspect Turkey has a bunch of Garands too. Turkey has a bunch of Willys Jeeps too.

The Korean Garands weren't Lend-Lease. The Koreans purchased them outright, or they were given to them, I don't recall the exact story, but they aren't eligible for US government recall and CMP resale. This also includes no small amount of M1 Carbines.

As far as I know, they are still sitting in a warehouse waiting to come home and be sold on the market. Kankles played no small part in blocking their re-importation.

I'm really not clear on why they didn't come home during the Trump admin, though.

Turkish Garands do make it back in small batches through CMP, every once in a while, but I think they are mostly in pretty poor condition, so don't make it out for sale.

The Philippines Garands turned out to be a lot worse than they realized. The one I got as a Field Grade has an almost new original barrel, but some pitting on the receiver below the wood and is pretty rough looking compared to other Field Grades sold in the past. In fact, if it weren't for the barrel condition, it could have been put into the Rack Grade category. That said, it is pretty cool that it has an IHC stock. It still runs like a raped ape, though, and shoots better than I can.
