Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Wyoming Team Makes Long-Range Rifle Shot Record, Hits 4.4 Mile Target

Quote:
The world record for the longest rifle shot was broken by a Wyoming team of shooters who managed to hit a target 4.4 miles away in on the state’s arid plains.

Breaking the previous record of only 4 miles, and the Wyoming state record of 3.06 miles, local media outlet KSLTV explains that the shot required years of planning from two expert shooters and their team.

Impressive, but let's put that in perspective.

69 shots that day before they scored a hit on an 80" wide target. Article fails to mention anything about how many days of shooting before they finally got a hit.

Just saying, there's a difference when you're talking about "1 shot one kill" or "8 out of 10 on a Palma target" vs "We threw lead in that direction until the law of averages caught up."

And no, I couldn't pull that off in 1000 shots. I have a hard enough time doping the wind at 700 yards.

Four and a half miles away I doubt anyone could actually see an 80 inch wide target.

There's a lot of interesting optics mounted on that thing. I'm sure they help a bit.

THAT took a superb rifle and ammunition. Sitting here going over in my mind the dope that it took to make that one strike in the red from over four miles....is mind boggling. Camp Perry is where I learned from the big boys.. On how to dope the wind, when not to shoot...and when to put well aimed shots downrange as quickly as possible. The Goddess of the wind MUST be worshipped with true reverence. The wind off lake Erie...makes shooting at Perry a challange. When I was shooting there...some of the geezers were shooting the 1903 Springfield rifle. They were wearing their campaign hats, cartridge belts and laid their poncho out for the prones. Now THAT was cool.

A four+ miles shot. Fuck... I would sure like to see their dope book. Just out of a shooters curiosity. I have dope books for all my service rifles. The M1s and the M14s.

Four miles? I cannot get my head around that. To me that is what field arty is for.
