Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default The Mossberg Model 500: History & Disassembly

I think I paid $179 + sales tax for my Mossberg 500 12 Ga., back in the early 1990's.
Quote:
First designed and marketed in 1962, Mossberg’s Model 500 pump-action shotgun is a popular arm, due no doubt to its well-balanced combination of affordability and quality. The “modular” nature of the Model 500 product line certainly doesn’t hurt either, and a dizzying number of barrel and stock options allow users to make a single Model 500 into either a pistol-gripped cruiser model or a 28"-barreled bird gun by simply switching out a few parts.

I have a Mossy 590SP.... it's not for ducks or bunnies, more like close-in and personal work.

But this retro one is on the short list, if I rebuild my collection that is.
Still not a fan of that weird rear sight though.

I dunno what my reasoning is but, I also like the Mossbergs with a 'heat shield'. Probably because NY Rep. McCarthy thinks they're "a shoulder thingy that goes up". I dunno.

I don't know much about Mossberg Rifles, handguns or semi-auto shotguns but, I do know that their pump action shotguns are robust, and come in just about any configuration one can think of.

I once owned a Coast To Coast Master Mag 12 Ga. (it was nothing more than a Mossberg 500 with the Coast To Coast Hardware badging). It was as good, if not better quality (wood, blued steel, smoothness), than my current Mossberg 500, and had a 30" barrel w/Full choke. I was a dumb ass for selling it.

I will be looking for a 500 (in .410) this weekend at the funshow.
Only other Mossburg I own is an old Westernfield labeled semi-auto .22lr. Picked it up from a garage sale as a teenager.

I still own a 590 that looks like the new retro ones, no ghost sight. My favorite shotgun was a mossy 500 because they got the best tang safety and light to carry, sold it to friend who died never was able to get it back.
