Can't remember the fellas name has a company that restores just the 1897s. Their is over a years wait to purchase a restored shotgun. Some guys are against restoring some like it just a matter of choice I guess?
I have one from 1917 and they return them to factory new will all original parts. Interesting video damn those bayonets are longer than the damn gun.  ADD: Ian? brought out an interesting point that only a small percentage of the 1897s had the 'flaming globe' inscribed on the weapons the majority did not have it that were used in WWI.  posted a pict. of his up here with the globe.
