Last Summer, Wife and I bought a 15 acre parcel about a mile from our residence. I spent most of the Summer cleaning up a 1930's era glass dump on the property. Not fun.
Wife discovers that the former glass dump is on a perfect South-facing hill sloping down to a swamp and would make an IDEAL spot for a garden. Besides; it's already dug up and the soil is loose. We're gonna try planting some "cool weather" vegetables that might do well in our cooler climate here in Northern Michigan. The one that interests me the most is "husk tomatoes" or "ground tomatoes". They're some sort of wild, heirloom tomato that needs very little care. |
