when is the last time you got a Wasp sting ?
for me 3 days ago, 4th of July evening. Hiking with my dog by a creek
Didnt see it but got me on the top middle finger. sharp pain, brushed at my hand what ever it was , didnt see what made the sharp pain. Saw a sting or bite mark Couldnt figure out what got me. On the way home, back of my hand started swelling... I was thinking, Hope it wasnt a baby rattler on a tree limb. Later felt OK just my back of hand and fist all swollen up. Google was wasp sting . probably what it was.... says, peaks in 48 hours Third day swelling starting to go away , second night and day to third day itched like crazy. Got some hydrocortisone cream, didnt help much Its about 72 hour now and swelling is gone down alot Guess Ill live Last time 10 years ago I was fishing and standing on a wasp nest hole in the ground. Got stung about 5 times on my ankle

I knew a guy that moved from St Louis to about a mile
from me when he retired...he walked by his ranked up wood and a rattler tagged him in the arm...he damn near lost his arm...he moved back to St Louis... Anyway, stings and bites are just some of unpleasant Realities that we get to...enjoy...communicating with nature... Damn they hurt |

Out running exercising my and a friends bird dogs many yrs. ago as a yute and stepped on whatever the hell those bees are that live in the ground.
Holy mother of God my ankles were covered with the biting little S.O.B.s. Ran down to a stream and packed my ankles in mud. Well hell about 30 minutes later they were all better so I guess mud does work?

I see Tarantula hawks everyday but they dont bother you. They are loners, but you dont want to get stung by one..... The yellow/orange color wasps and smaller yellow jackets are the nasty ones

I kneeled on one in the attic of the house right after moving in. My knee got as big as the first time I blew it up. 6 weeks later nurse @ the allergy doctor noticed it & freaked out. Got cortisone then.

Riding a jetski I had a wasp hit me and fall behind my sunglasses. It stung my right eyelid. Gave me a black eye and made my face sag for a week like I had a stroke.

Every time I've been stung in my life it's been by those little yellow jacket wasps/hornets which come out in late summer. The other summer I was just sitting on my patio in a pair of shorts. Three of the things were flying around and one just upped and stung me right on the knee. I crushed the little bastard with my hand. They must not pack much venom because there's typically little swelling or pain.
I've never been stung by a honey bee, bumble bee, or large hornet. |

Saturday, couple of the bastards must have a nest on the trailer I was putting a ramp on. Got me in the side, smacked one of them with a Woodsman Pal and took a leg off the shithead. I think he’s still ahead.

Worse situation I got into was yellow jackets!
A friend and I were cleaning up shooting houses. Was weed eating under one of the houses. Didn't see the yellow jacket hole. They attacked the weed eater - I was strapped to it! I ran - They got my right hand and arm about 40 times before I could get strap off and get away from it. Weed eater was still running they continued to swarm it. Could not go near it - Just left it there to run out of gas. My friend keeps turpentine and plastic wrap in his first aid kit for bee stings. Covered my arm with turpentine and wrapped it with plastic wrap. Next morning swelling was down and I was OK. So we went back to recover weed eater. Something had completely dug out that yellow jacket hole the size of a 5 gallon bucket and I guess eaten the yellow jackets - they were all gone. Figure it was an armadillo. Since then I give all armadillos on the lease a free pass.

2005, about a month after hurricane Katrina.
Pulled the tarp off a wood pile to find yellow jackets had built a huge nest in it. Son watched me dancing and running from one end of my yard all the way to the bayou. Dove in and submerged myself till the attackers gave up. Never thought they'd chase you so far. Almost 20 stings that time

yesterday...I was moving some stuff around on front porch...I pulled on some canvass and tore a nest of them damn yellow jackets apart.... i didn't see or know shit.....until i felt a sharp pain on the back of my right hand...and ....while i was looking at WTF was causing the pain.... .many more of the bastards piled on and got me a dozen times on each arm...
I realized THEN what was going on and backed up....slapping the little mean fucks......and stepped inside... fortunately none followed me in. I filled a spray bottle up with gasoline......and with that....and a long walking stick.... I attacked them. They had stung hell out of me. The spots swole up and then itched like hell...now I have bumps on me that itch like hell. Almost as bad as when i was cutting in my driveway in Sohio....and ripped open a nest in the ground...they got me a zillion times on my ankels....and crawled up my pantlegs....and got me lots more... by the time I throttled down and got off the idling dozer...I was wearing half the nest...i took off down the drive...the dog got all excited from where he was watching all the goings on....and decided to explore. The kamikaze bugs got him good too. What a day.... Fucking commy bugs!
