I've barely been getting into red dots for my Sport Utility Rifles. For me, the jury is still out, but I do seem to get on target faster. You just have to make sure to not chase the dot, instead of keeping it on target. So far, my red dots are made by Vortex and my first one on a Ruger MkII 22/45 is an older Tasco version, made in Japan.
Maybe this video can be of help. When Jerry Miculek speaks, I listen.

I really like my Holosun HS510C. It has a solar panel to extend battery life and auto-brightness, with a 2 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle that you can choose both or one or the other. Battery life is up to 50,000 hours and the dot is nice and clean.

Good tips thank you guys.
![]() Yes Stoned_Oli that was one I was checking out. Never tried a Reflex but they appear to give you a wide field of view letting you see things off to the sides while still maintaining target acquisition. Think I will grab one and see how she goes. ![]() |

![]() I haven't replaced the batteries in my old Tasco, since I got it, and that's been well over 10 years ago. I pulled it out the other day and turned it on, and was surprised it was still strong. |

Not a reflex site, but it is a 1x-8x red dot type scope I'm seriously thinking about putting on my FAL. Mainly because I really like their reticle.
Was looking at "Buy American", but dang, we are talking $300-$800 more. Hard to drink champagne on a beer budget. Or eat steak on a ramen budget. But nobody else has that reticle. Primary Arms really hit a homerun with the design. https://www.opticsplanet.com/primary...iflescope.html |

Yes to all of the above. I love this thing.
![]() Holosun HS510C 2 MOA Dot Or A 65 MOA Ring Open Reflex Circle Dot Solar Power Holographic Red Dot Sight https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Perfect for the short range shots we have down here in Florida. Few hundred yards maybe lot of visibility to the sides of the site, etc.? No problema I would guess? Out west maybe not so much shooting long distances? |

For ranges further out, a decent telescope is nice. I've been partial to the low power variables, lately with both a Burris MTAC 1-4x by 24 and a Bushnell AR Optics 1x-4x. The Burris is a tad more expensive than the Bushnell, but I lean more toward the Bushnell, as it has a cleaner reticle to me. |
