New 7.62x54r Franken Rifle I've been playing with
Just slammed this Franken rifle together useing various bits from M72, M76, M77 and PSL parts. The rifle has a custom heavy 18" barrel made from a Green Mountain blank... and M72 style cooling fins machined into it near the gas block.
I've run two mags through it and it belches fire like a bastard! Now just have to throw it in the blast cabinet and put a proper finish on her. |

This project took a hell of a lot longer than originally planned because I marred the chamber face of the barrel when pressing parts and had to send it to a guy who profiles barrels (I will have a lathe & a mill soon so I will be able to do it myself). It took a while to get back and then I found that the modified M76 bolt didn't like the 7.62x54r round even after all the modifications I made...so I said fuck it and ordered a PSL bolt (designed for 7.62x54r) and had to redo the headspace...which normally isn't a big deal... but my barrel came back with about a .000000000000000000000001 interference fit and headspace changed constantly while drilling the barrel pin. To make a long story short, after much cussing, I was able to get it headspaced and it runs like a demon. |

Looks like a fun gun to shoot. I much prefer the boomers over the poppers.
Wish I would have gotten one in 8mm when they were easier to come by.

That is cool back when I still had guns I used to take an AK and see what the hell fit on it and still went bang. You can come up with all kinds of interchangeable parts for a Franken.
Since the flood and listening to my bro 44044 I got rid of every damn thing. Guns are bad they hurt people |

You should bring that to Houston in July.

Very mean looking...in a nice way!
What color scheme are you going to use, AWT? Please don't say triple pink. Though it might blend right in at the NYC gay parade! |
