Rifled barrel question...
I recently acquired a Mossberg 935 from my dad. It was his turkey gun. Long ass barrel with a choke. Today he found the other barrel it came with. It is a rifled barrel. I have no experience with these. Can I only shoot sabot slugs through a rifled barrel? Or can I also shoot the Foster type rifled slugs through it? And what about 00Buckshot?

Sabots best for it, the rifled slugs are designed for smooth barrels, the sabot seals up the rifling then about 20yds out of the barrel they fall away from the slug
A rifled slug will shoot too but not as accurate

Birdshot, Buckshot through a rifled barrel is 'ok'. The wad will act kinda like a sabot on a sabot slug. It'll twist the same. You might get a larger pattern spread using birdshot or buckshot due to the rifling twist. |

There's videos on youtube showing the 'pattern spread'........of a rifled barrel vs. smooth bore.
