Been gone for too long
Time has flown by since my wife and I retired and relocated a year and a half ago. I just got off the phone with Tim (4thIDvet). He had called me and snapped me out of my haze. We had a good talk and now that we're only about 45 minutes apart, my wife and I look forward to dropping in on him. Anyway, I figured I'd say hey here in the new member section, since it's been so long since I've posted on .

Thanks for the welcome and as far as retired life it's good. My wife and I have been pouring all of our energies into repairing, replacing and improving systems and structures on our new property. Actually, I think that so far we've been working physically harder in retirement than we did in our former jobs. It's been much more rewarding though. Our property is a bit more than 3 acres in a very nice, quiet neighborhood, bordered by woods. I have to admit that the last 18 months of hard work has resulted in the house and property looking fantastic. My wife is completely content here, as it was her parents that cleared the land and built the house in 1980. I am loving the solitude and the quiet. ...and all the wild life. We see deer, turkey, hawks, eagles, hogs, bobcats, tortoises and of course snakes on a regular basis. We have no cable here as we decided not to have it installed when we moved in and we haven't missed it one bit. Like I was telling Tim on the phone, I've been reading instead and we watch a DVD movie once in a while. I've been reading all kinds of books and I've NEVER been a reader of anything but magazines and technical manuals before. So, I'd have to say that life is very good. I hope it's treated you all as well as it has us and I look forward to spending time on the again. Right now I need to go do a few rounds on the bag and hit the rowing machine. I'm pushing 59 and I need to be in shape for what's coming in this country.

Glad to see that you are back.
My wife joined me in retirement March of last year and things are good here in RTO-land. We too are working as hard as ever and enjoying the fruits of our labor on our property.
