AR Varmint Rifles?
I was wondering dose any one have a AR Varmint rifle? If so what do you think? How accurate are they? Are they worth the pice tag?
Thanks. :smileywithgun scheister |

Yeah I enjoy my M4 but wanted somthing to reach out at longer ranges. I got the .308 but just don't need that much power for somthings. So thought I would look at the AR varmint rifles. Plus add a little somthing diffrent to the innovatory. The ammo is cheap and easy to find along with the mags. All big pluses.

pick up a 22-250. Accurate as hell, more power than a .223, but less than a .243. If you shop around, you should be able to find a reasonbly priced heavy barrel model. (I actually passed on a trade-in used Savage heavy barrel varmint with a harris bipod at Gander Mtn. for $350. looked new, but I'm a lefty and would rather have a lefty bolt action.)

I have a Bushmaster Varmiter rifle. It has a 24 inch fluted barrel, 6x24 scope and its 223 of course...Very accurate rifle.....When everyone else was breaking clays at 200 yards I was rolling them over and not busting them......hehe..

I posted a pic of my long distance rifle in another thread. I'll just post it again. It's in 25-06 and will really reach out and touch something, real far away.

Ya can beat a 25-06 for knock down and speed ,alot of guys around here use them for deer huntin . These things are very good ,but I like the bullet selection on the .308 I can go from 110gr all the way up to 240gr this gives me a wide selection and it can be used for just about anything ya want !!
But I do love them single shot RUGERs and that is a fine weapon !!! |

Dam Magnus is there any coon or critter left after hitting it with a 300mag? What do you use a 50BMG on deer?:p I got a Remi 700 in .308 for deer and other things of size. Plus a M1A SOCOM 16 for hogs and other critter in confined bush type places. But was thinking the varmint AR would be a nice reach out and touch for other targets of distance. Plus wouldnt have to worry about over penetration with the .223.

Jack rabbits get turned pretty much inside out by the mighty .300.
