Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default I bought a new chainsaw

I've got a big Ash tree that is dying. So I needed a new chainsaw. I've never had a good one, only box store crap.

I bought a Stihl Farm Boss. That saw will really eat through that ash tree.

My Ash tree was dying because of those dang Emerald Ash Borers. I was working in a tight area. I had my workshop
on one side, my gazebo on the other and power lines on one side. So I had to climb up in it and cut the top out before
I could cut the tree down.

That's the same one I got last Friday.

It's a beast, isn't it?

I've only run saws that were either already fairly worn out when I got to use them, or they were box store saws or both.

Yes it is. It's a joy to use. It cuts through that Ash like butter. I bought a spare chain, a half gallon of chain oil, and a six pack of 2 cycle oil. They double the length of the warranty if you buy a six pack of the 2 cycle oil.

I bought a six-pack of their 2 cycle oil, but I also bought a couple quarts of Stihl 50:1 chainsaw fuel. I burned through a quart in 2 days. Kind of pricey ($30/gal), but it has no ethanol in it.

I drive about 10 miles and buy ethanol free gas. It costs about a dollar more per gallon than the 10% ethanol, but it's worth it. It is all I use in my mower, trimmer, and now my chainsaw. When I go I fill 4 - 5 gallon cans, so it lasts me for quite a while.

I've had a Farm Boss for 15 years and it has NEVER failed to start or cut a days load of firewood. And I cut a LOT of firewood! I bought a smaller Stihl for cutting small stuff. That Farm Boss gets heavy after a day of toting it around.

Pogo/Sanders, you may consider getting a spare bar too. If the bar ever gets pinched between logs and you can't get it out, you can always remove the saw from the bar, mount the spare and chain, and cut your stuck bar free. I've had to do that a few times. Beats leaving your saw in the woods until you can chop it free.

Pogo super nice saw.

RetVet keep a couple of plastic wedges with yah when your cutting. You will see them at the chain saw supply place.
Keep a mall wtih yah also. Insert wedge in next too your stuck saw chain, couple of raps with the mall and it will lift a Komiforna red wood tree.
That is all the pro loggers use. Save yah some work from taking that saw apart.

Got wedges and a mall every time I go out. Sometimes I just don't pull the saw out fast enough to avoid getting it in a bind. Some of the logs I cut are too big for a wedge to even come close to helping. Easier just to have a spare chainsaw or extra bar/chain for those "oops" situations.

That's what the little 'limbing saw' is for. Besides trimming.
Been down that road with a pinched saw. Was doing great until the damned log decided to cork screw on me. Took 20 minutes, with the little saw to free the big saw.

I carry an extra chainsaw with me, as well. I was taught, (and learned from not paying attention to my teachings) that when it comes to chainsaws and being miles away from anywhere, "two is one, and one is none".
