I really tried to love the AK47. Owned an OPAP for years. Great gun but I just wasn't as comfortable with it as an AR. I'm a creature of habit.

I have AR-15's up da butt. must have 10-12 of them. I have piled up the parts to build a Vietnam era looking M16A1. All I lack is the chromed BCA. New triangular hand guards, the A1 butt stock and the A1 pistol grip. I even have an original Colt 1x12 twist chrome lined "skinny" barrel. I will have to gunkote the upper & lower rec's so they match. They are like peanuts...can't have just one. Same as AK's.

I have to admit I do have this habit of trying to thumb the safety that isn't there when I shoot an AK... but they still outnumber the ARs 2 to 1.

I have a full auto AKMS that I KNOW has 150,000 rds through it. It has NEVER been cleaned. I just dump 30# motor oil in it...wipe off what runs out...and it is good to go.
TRY THAT with an AR-15. It is on it's 3rd set of front handguards...they sometimes catch fire after some 100 rd. drum mag, dumps. A 5 gallon bucket of water for a dunking...cools that barrel right down. Try THAT with an AR15. If the Vikings had guns...back then...they would have had AK47's. An AK is a meat axe that just runs and runs. |

Yep, that's why I own several dozen AK's. They are built like a tank and keep on runnin. I've got a dozen or so parts kits that need to be hammered into place. Once addicted to AK's you can't just have one or two or 25... they just keep breeding in my workshop. A real sickness I tell ya.
