Hey boon I may stand corrected. Marines get groundbreaking, unstoppable new rifle magazine
*(Magpul Industries)
A reliable weapon can be the difference between life and death for those serving in the military. The Magpul Industries PMAG GEN 3 is a magazine for rifles that ensures the user stays lethal in a fight. More than 20,000 rounds fired? No problem. Still no magazine stoppages.* "With AR, M4, and M27 weapons for example, magazine problems are a primary culprit in stoppages. But if a warfighter uses the PMAG, then the risk of stoppage is massively reduced." "The US Marine Corps has made the decision to ensure that all Marines have the best magazine available. Going forward, Magpul’s PMAG GEN 3 has become the official magazine, giving Marines that extra advantage to stay alive and lethal in a firefight." http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2017/01/...-magazine.html O.K. o.k. boon yah told me the P-mags were the best. I ain't fighin no Marines if they say its the best. Guess the U.S. Army was hesitant to adopt and acquire the Gen. 3 P-mags but the troops were privately buying and using them? Being old school we never had a problem with the 1960s mil. spec mags. Least I never did. Maybe the bought the new mil. mags from China?

I only have the PMag D60 drums. I bought a bunch of new Colt 30 round magazines & thru Magpul enhanced followers in them. I have zero Magpul 30 round mags.
I looked at some 150 drum when I first got the M16. It was to heavy & to expensive. |

I've never had any problems with the Gen I and Gen II P-Mags I've used. Both in 20 rd and 30 rd configurations. But I still download them for storage. Old habits.

All we had for our M16A1's almost 50 years ago were the Colt, issue, 20 rd mags. As long as they were taken apart and cleaned and the ammo checked and cleaned...they fed ok. I never had one fuck me. I always banged them against the stock, though, before I slipped them into the mag well. There was always the posibility of a friction lock. It was fucking HUMID in the RVN. The RVN is where I developed a huge respect for the AK47 as a weapon of war. They would hit OK out to 250-300 yds and were just about impossible to break. Did I have one. Hell YES! We all did.
It was a VERY rare occurrence to have any kind of an aimed shot at an NVA over 50-100 yds. Engagement distances were pretty damn short armed, in the Central highlands. THICK brush trees and jungle. Half the time you were almost walking on the gooks before the lead was flying in a meeting engagement. Elsewhere I don't really know. On the Coastline and in the Vills there were some clear long shots. Never got in a fight in them places. Over 300 yds I liked an M-14. 7.62x51mm ain't no jive. BIG BORE, Hi-Power, gets the job done.

True a lot of lessons on both sides were learned from the early battle of the Ia Drang between the U.S. Army 1st Cav and the NVA in the highlands 1965.
U.S. military learned don't go frigging with no entire bad ass NVA divisions unless your well prepared. NVA learned this is not the French their fighting the U.S. has air and artillery support so get the hell in close and stay their. Same here though like 0 problems with those 20 round USGI mags and we kind of beat the hell out of them. They were made in West Haven Conn. under contract for Colt. My home town growing up. |

Only bad M15/AR15 magazines I've encountered were steel British magazines. I ended up using them for target practice (them being the targets)
