Prayer request
Please pray for my Uncle Dave.
Vietnam Vet (Seabees), and the last of his brothers (my Dad's younger brother). He beat cancer last year, but something's wrong and he's in the hospital in El Paso. His blood platelets are very, very low and he's bleeding internally. I talked to him this morning on the phone, and he's not sounding very hopeful. Damned Agent Orange.

Thanks guys. I'm driving down to see him in the morning. Been trying to get a hold of his oldest son, my cousin, who estranged himself from the family.
He's in a regular hospital. The VA hospitals around here will make sure you leave feet first. |

I went down to El Paso on Friday and visited Uncle Dave. He was in much better spirits than he was when I talked to him, and two of his kids were down there, as well.
The deal is that he had a chemical reaction between his chemo medicine and the blood thinners the docs pumped him full of when they operated on him after he broke his leg and hip, falling off a ladder while cleaning his gutters. Then, because his blood platelets were so low from the bad chemical cocktail, they gave him a transfusion of blood platelets that were not compatible. Because they were not compatible, it attacked him inside and was causing him to bleed out internally. That took place at the hospital in Silver City, NM - a hospital where more than one Sanders has left feet first. At least this time, Uncle Dave was put on a helicopter to El Paso, which has facilities better equipped to handle his situation. I stuck around yesterday, because they wanted to test his family members for blood platelet compatibility. Since my blood type is O-, I figured I'd be a pretty good match. However; they couldn't do any tests until Monday. My cousins stuck around, but I had to get home. If they don't match, then I can get tested closer to home. If I match, then I'll hightail it back down there and not rely on them to extract my blood and send it down to El Paso. In the meantime, they found 2 units in Phoenix that are compatible, and they will be there on Monday. Plus, they were giving him some kind of pill that costs a whole bunch of money, that was helping. Thanks for all your prayers. I sincerely believe they are helping. |
