Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Anyone Using Peppermint OS?

Sadly, its time for the ol' XP Pro to go. Too many problems cropping up. Options so far are:

1) go to Win 7
2) go to win 7 and upgrade to Win 10
3) go to a Linux based system

Stumbled across Peppermint 7 and it looks pretty good to my limited braintrust.

I'm using Linux Mint 17.3 Mate and like it a lot. I only use Windows maybe 1% of the time, any more.

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is a very stable and user friendly distribution. That makes Linux Mint very easily upgraded and user friendly, too.

And, it's FREE...

Yes, with Grub/Grub2. I did have four operating systems, LM17.x, Fedora, Debian and Win7 and Grub2 handled them all very well. I only have LM17.3 and Win7, now.

Here's a good link that has a lot of the Linux distributions. There is a ton of information about them, too.

Thanks. I am thinking about trying Linux again.

A few years ago I had set up a dual boot system with Win and Ubuntu. At that time Linux wasn't as much "fun" as Windows.

At any rate the dual boot crashed. It was something to do with Grub and I lost the info on that hard drive.

I believe that microsuck will sabotage any Windows OS under Win 10 long before the 2020 support (for Win 7) expires. JMHO.

Linux used to have to have a lot more manual input. I remember having to use Pico to edit everything and recompile every time you did anything even close to the kernel. Having to unzip tar.gz files into tarballs before you used them or send them to another part of the machine. But, that also meant you had full control over everything you did you the machine.
You can still do all that, but why, when everything is more automated, these days. You can still bury yourself in virtual machines and make yourself untraceable, though.

I used the Win7 on my laptop recently and thought what a pain in the butt.

The man that was hot on this Linux stuff was Pfalz2. There wasn't anything he didn't know about it. He's the reason I got back in to Linux.
