Have fun. Windows 10 is not as bad as some people say. I have two running in my home office and they work very well. Also comes with Windows Defender, which is a pretty good anti-virus, protection.

I just wish it was easier to get Windows 10 to talk to the Windows 7 boxes. I just built a new computer myself, and the habit was to keep all of our pictures and music on mine and just share them across the network.

Get a network drive. I have a WD My Cloud hooked up to my router, 4 Ter, I can access it from anywhere on any system. All my picture files are in it as well as all the contracts I must keep for seven years. I also keep a copy of everything on another external drive.

I have an office room setup at home where I run most of my business from, on occasions I do go to the real office, so I have to make sure I have everything I need here and elsewhere. |

It just keeps on going, great for scanning to pdf, which I do from Adobe Professional, it still faxes in and out but very few people ever do, everything is email, which is way better. Ink is where they get you but it lasts me a long time.

I played with it a little more and read a bit on the internet, and now my wife's 7 box can see my files and use my printer.
I was seriously opposed to 10 which is why I went so long on the old box, but this new pooter screams! I threw out Cortana right off the bat, and there are some privacy settings to change right up front, but I am happy to agree than 10 isn't bad. My printer is a Canon D530 BTW, USB only but it prints great, duplexes, scans well and does everything I need so far. That Pro 8600 does look nice though, and doc feeds are a godsend. |

I have a HP Envy I bought new about 5 years ago that came with Windows 10 pre-installed. Despite all the horror stories I've never had any issues with the OS. Windows 95, 98, XP, Vista, and now 10 have all worked for me.
I have an older Brother LC61 3-in-1 printer that still works great, especially printing photos on photo paper. |

I guess everybody overreacts when Windows comes up with a new version. Going from seven to ten I was a bit lost at first until I realized all you have to do is right click on the menu icons and everything looks the same as it always did.

It was the privacy issues that concerned me the most. Fortunately by now updates have been applied that allow most of those issues to be addressed.
I know the first time I saw 8 I was lost, as it was really different from the structure that Windows used since 95. I swore by XP until I tried 7... I swore by 7 until I tried 10. I still swear by 7 but the Ryzen architecture doesn't support it. |
