I'm going to get a new tent for camping
I'm going to get a Eureka! Sunrise EX 6-Person Tent. Tent companies always over rate their tents for the number of people who can sleep in them.
It will be easy for me to set up by myself and have a place for my cot and everything I want to have in the tent with me. I have a large Eureka tent that my wife and I used but it's hard for one person to set it up by themself. Eureka makes good 3 season tents. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/produ...tabsCollection

You know me. I'm too old to change my ways. I enjoy being out in the bush listening to the animals at night.
I like being far away from other people |

I'm funning yah Pogo you know that.. I love camping myself but with this damn arthritis no way could I do it anymore. Lots of good year round camping down here in Florida but you would for sure have to bring Sam to scare away the dang bears all over the place down here.

Eurekas are good tents. We had a river flowing under one on a rainy night and the inside stayed mostly dry.
The zipper finally went though... But we had quite a few trips out if it first. The floor is thin so you need to lay down a tarp first.

I always lay a canvas under the tent and if I put an old piece of carpet in the areas where I walk. Agreed, you have to take care of the floor in any tent.

Wow, tents with floors? Well, okay, even the teepees had some floor coverings.
But there was a bit more room inside one of them. Still, digging a runoff channel around the tent is a good idea, just in case. Standard Boy Scout procedure. |

That trip to Spring River in Arkansas, the runoff went where it wanted. We woke up to the tent bowing in enough to touch us! Good times... We were about right here... https://www.google.com/maps/@36.3853.../data=!3m1!1e3 Great place, greedy ass campground though. There was a picnic table attached to one of the islands right out from us, a great place to eat lunch. |

I'm getting soft in my older years.
I went from sleeping on the ground with nothing but a sleeping bag, to using a ground pad, then a 2-man tent, then a large canvas tent, and now a roof top tent. I was glad I was in it during our trip to Colorado, last fall, when a fairly large critter decided to rub up against the Xterra in the early morning hours. A big downpour washed away any tracks, but there were some indentations that looked like it could have been a bear. Normally, I'd suspect a cow, but there were no signs of cattle in the area. Edit: The picture is at Mt. Withington in New Mexico, not Colorado.

That 'Roof Top Tent' is quite a system.
Does it stay attached to the roof when you repack it? Or do you take the entire thing down and pack it on the ground. Interesting concept, to say the least. |

It stays bolted onto the roof rack. I leave my pillows and sleeping bags inside when I fold it up. It all tucks into a thick rubber cover. |

Again, quite a concept. Folks create some of the greatest things that work well.
Never ceases to impress me on some of their inventions. |
