Heres an Aussie WW1 curio
Carved from a piece of the Cloth Hall at Ypres. Not a bad effort considering it was done in one of the hottest spots on the planet at the time.

Its a snuff box, somewhere between the size of a box of matches & a pack of gaffers.
The Coat of Arms would have been copied from an Aussie coin of the period. |

Heres a before & after of the Cloth Hall. It was rebuilt exactly after the Great War & is home of the "In Flanders Fields" War Museum.
Its worth doing a google on the Cloth Hall, incredible story. |

Yes, that is a beautiful piece. And that was a beautiful structure it came from.

Gaffer = cigarette. The bloke I got the box from also had a couple of lamps from the Hall as well. Looks like the Digger who did the work might not have made it home. The box & lamps were brought to Oz by a Belgian poof whose parents had the items. |

Truly a work of art. You should be proud to own such a peice of history.
