lost my little boy
i didn't mention it because this one was particularly tough. on july 8 my wife called me crying. she had come home for lunch and found Brewser dead. i came home to find him lying on the tile floor in front of the kitchen in his typical frog butt position as though he had just come in to cool off. i never , never considered him to be on the short list as he was insanely fit and active. Quigly was lost without his buddy and would just lay around waiting for me to take him out front for our evening daddy time. normally i give myself some time before considering another dog but Quig needs a companion that can keep him active. i suggested a new pup and my wife agreed but stipulated he should look like Brewser with a lot of flair ( boxer talk for white accents ). a couple days later i had an alternative thought. Maria's sister had Brewser's female litter mate living in a 10 x10 kennel with little to no human interaction. i suggested we take a shot and see if the pack would take her in for the sake of her quality of life. last night Navy Niece brought her over around 18:30. my nephew gave her the tour on leash before i brought out Quig. wow, was he excited. out to the garden area for a fifteen minute social then i let out Ali one of the adopted Weimeraners. good vibes all around, let Daisy off the leash. time to go inside and meet Peno and the queen mum, Charly. long story short, everybody's getting along, Daisy is overwhelmed with the free space and running like a greyhound. she even has Charly playing. this morning, once again, there are two brown streaks of lightning blazing past the patio door as i lay in bed with a view of the back yard. Daisy won't help much with the loss of Brewser but she's taking no time creating a new normal. i think it was the right decision. you were a special little guy Brewser and i'll miss our nightly wrestling matches.
