Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Land Navigation with Map and Lensatic Compass

I love land nav / orienteering.

One of the things I collect is maps. I have a huge collection of National Geographic maps (which I know are not topographical maps).

Anyway, the site at the link has a bunch of free downloads to teach you land navigation.

A lot of them are refreshers for most of us, but you could use them to teach others. When the lights go out, those GPS units won't be so useful as knowing how to read a map.

Get a good compass, a protractor and some good topo maps and get after it.

I've got USGS topo maps for every place I've camped and rode ATVs.

I read the sun and check for moss on the North side of trees.
The sun method works good, but we lack a lot of trees to check, here in desert country.
So, I look for downhill streams, get a drink and follow it to a river.
Then build a raft and float past enemy territory.

Or something like that.

I have used lots of USGS topo maps to find hunting spots which others do not find (not visible from the road...).

I need to get myself and my kid signed up for a topo map/compass navigation course this summer.

Since weather moves from west to east, if I piss in the wind and it blows back on me I figure I am facing west.
