Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Also DAO. Kel-Tec's made decent carry pieces from what I've heard. Economical, but definitely not a match-grade pistol. I had one when they first came out, and I was not impressed with the P-11. I couldn't hit the ground with that piece of shit. It feeds reliably, and with all types of ammo. If you were shooting at body-sized targets from about 15 feet and closer (which the pistol was probably designed for), you'd be in decent shape, I'd say.

Keltec is DAO, as well.

I've had both the Kel-Tec P3AT and the P-11. The only one I really miss is the little P3AT and may one day replace.Even if I were wearing swim trunks the little bastard would still be comfortable to carry.

Even though my Kahr is DAO also, there is just no comparing the KT's trigger pulls to it. Its soooooo smooooooooth!

Double Action Only.

Quote:
is similar to a DA revolver trigger mechanism however there is no single action function. For semi-automatic pistols with a traditional hammer, the hammer will return to its decocked position after each shot. For striker-fired pistols such as the Taurus 24/7, the striker will remain in the rest position through the entire reloading cycle. This term applies mostly to semi-automatic handguns, however the term can also apply to some revolvers such as the Smith & Wesson Centennial revolver.

DAO firearms attempt to solve the problems with DA/SA mechanisms by making each and every shot a double-action shot. Because there is no difference in pull weights, training and practice are simplified. Additionally, accidental discharges are reduced because of the heavier trigger pulls. This is a particular advantage for a police pistol. These weapons also generally lack any type of external safety. DAO is common among police agencies and for small, personal protection firearms. The primary deficiency is that accurate fire is difficult due to the additional trigger weight and travel required for each shot.
I prefer a DAO pistol for myself. (I don't blame others for not liking them)
I keep a round in the chamber and I don't worry at all about it discharging by accident. I would probably not carry around a Glock like I do this Kahr or my old KTs. Another thing that I like is that I don't have a safety to mess/w.

The P3AT is quite a compact little sucker, but I sure don't like shooting it. I don't like the trigger pull, myself. I also don't like the snappy recoil. The Detonics, even though it's .45 ACP has less recoil than the P3AT in .380 ACP. Probably due to the greater weight, so I guess it's apples to oranges.

That is.......if I still had any firearms, and hadn't sold them all.

I'm probably too old school to ever change. I still prefer wheel guns.

Maybe I got spoiled by having my first handgun as a 1911 with a super light trigger, but I still haven't held a DAO gun that I liked the trigger pull on. And on the round in the chamber thing, I carry my 1911 cocked, locked and ready to rock at all times. It has become force of habit to constantly check the safety, but it doesn't bother me at all. Hell every time I pick up a revolver or a glock the first thing I do is look for a safety. I also drive my cousin nuts by handing him a gun on the shooting line to try out that has the safety on.

Wheel guns have never been my thing, the only one I have even though about though was an airweight just because the thing is so damn light and small and I can get it in a caliber I like.

I know what you're saying Scheister but down here with near triple digit temps and 90% humidity carrying a 1911 is downright impractical if not near impossible. Our clothing is never worn thick enough to cover something that huge conceiled. Heck,,,,I don't own a single undershirt and wear only a light windbreaker 99% of our winter. And I can't stand the cold! LOL (anything under 60 degrees)

Actually it isn't that bad in the summer. Then it is easier for me to carry with what I wear. In the winter I have a problem with the shirts and sweaters I wear not allowing my shoulder harness. With my small frame it is extremely hard for me to carry it without a HUGE bulge. In the summer I just wear a light shirt that easily covers it. Here is an example. In this pic I have a 5" 1911 with two mags and it was 90 degrees that day. Then again Maybe I'm just used to the heat from FL ;)

Pogo: nobody hates Dao like I do but the Kahr is light and smooth with a clean break. It is far better than a Glock or Sig in double action. For what it is worth my gunsmith said the Kahr is the only gun that he has never seen returned for service at the shops where he has worked. He is one picky SOB so if he says they are good you can take that advice to the bank. Mine functions flawlessly.

75_stingray is right on in his assessment. If I think of it I will post a pic of it in its carry configuration.

I too have a small frame and it is hard for me to conceal during the hot summers in in TN.
