Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Amateur astronomer witnesses something scientists have been waiting decades for

I posted here because - telescope.

Victor Buso is a locksmith. He spends his days fiddling with locks and keys, and in his spare time he stares into the heavens in the observatory he built on the top floor of his own home. He’s devoted an incredible amount of time and money to his personal passion of skywatching, and now he’s the first person on the planet to witness something that scientists have been hoping to see for decades: the birth of a supernova.

The astronomers in academia were too busy seeking Grant money to be bothered.

I read about it the other day. Yes bears, it took the light 65 million years to reach us. the size of the universe amazes me. we're just a tiny spec of wet dust whirling around in space.

But we are so "Special !"

Sometimes our own insignificance amazes me.

If all in the bible is truly the word of God, then our significance is enormous...if not, then you've said all there is to say of man.

Sometimes I wonder if the physics of Earth sustaining life is so complicated, that it depends on the gravitational pull of everything in the universe just to make it work the way it does.

Or - as you say. All I know is that I don't know.
