It was a nice sunny day today.... I blasted some steel silhouette targets at seven yards with the 629... It makes a very loud bang and bing. At seven yds the targets approximate a human silhouette at 25 yds. I picked up on some speedloaders that really beat the shit out of loose re-loads in a pocket.
I am beginning to keep it loaded and within reach. It is a real confidence building hand howitzer.

You don't have to shoot things twice with 44 mag.

A .44 magnum S&W revolver is NOTHING like pulling the trigger on a 1911A1.

You do get a real nice action/reaction that would make Newton proud.

Put 100 rounds through the .44, then pick up the 1911A1 and put a mag through it, and it will feel like you are shooting a .22.

I put around 50 rds of 185gr JHP through it earlier in the week, along with a cylinder of 240gr FMJ... and my wrist, arm and shoulder are feeling it. been awhile since I have fired a hawgleg like that. I am going to stick with the 185gr stuff for now... I had to learn to let the Smith recoil instead of locking my Right arm's elbow. THAT was destroying me. Lifetime shooting habits don't just go away...

I have one 44 mag and it's a single action Virginian Dragoon with 71/2 inch barrel. Even with the Packmeyer grips I put on it it's good for maybe six rounds and then I take my red welted hand back home for the day.

You need to try my practice ammo. You could shoot it all day long and still hold a fork at the dinner table in the evening. |

I've seen this video before. What is the deal with the secondary explosion inside the gel block as it collapses, after the bullet has already left the block?

Today I took my new 629 apart and stoned then lubed the trigger parts. The single action pull is sooooooo sweet now... I am really liking this hand cannon.
