Cats in flower beds
Short of shooting the little bastards (since they are my wifes cats); do any of you have a GOOD way of keeping cats out of your flower beds?

Remove the catnip and plant it where you want the cats to poop.

That's why I don't have cats around anymore, they dig in the garden too.

Only problem is with her crapping in the garden. But she keeps the mice/voles/gophers/rabbits/birds out of it. In the past, I've bought cat repellant from the hardware store to keep stray cats out of my flower beds. That seems to work until it rains. I've heard bleach will work, too, but I think they like it.

We've got feral cats, I feed some and that's not where you want to go. I can dig that. Unproven but try sprinkling/growing cilantro. I have 4+ my neighborly friend, they all hate it. The fresher it is (growing) the less they like it. Works in salsas and more. I add it to my meatball sauce for Italian pasta dishes. No complaints from the humans, yet.
It's worth a cheap try. I have almost no issues with cats "using" my many flowerbeds. I'm talking 98-99% clean. When I had backyard dogs cats always used and abused the front beds. Just a consideration. I've been a landscape guy forever. Cat doo in beds always seems to relate to overpopulation or fear of larger, louder 4-leggers. YMHO. Mothballs just stink. |

An outdoor "Kitty Litter" box surrounded by Catnip.
They will love you for it. |

My Dad had great luck with an electric fence. Cats learn that lesson very quickly.
