Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

RetVet keep a couple of plastic wedges with yah when your cutting. You will see them at the chain saw supply place.
Keep a mall wtih yah also. Insert wedge in next too your stuck saw chain, couple of raps with the mall and it will lift a Komiforna red wood tree.
That is all the pro loggers use. Save yah some work from taking that saw apart.
I saw those plastic wedges at the chainsaw store, but all I could think of was why would someone use plastic wedges to split wood? It clicked with me when I had a couple potential binding situations just what those plastic wedges would be useful for.

I'd hate to drive a steel wedge into something and then accidentally hit it with my chain.

Looks like you got a good saw Pogo. I've had an MS362 for about 3 years now and love it.

If I did a lot of cutting I'd buy an additional chainsaw, a small one for trimming limbs with.

If you are ever around Moriarty, Honstein Oil sells their supreme unleaded with no ethanol. It is usually 10-15 cents higher than everywhere else (3.11/gal. today). It is all I will run in the Trans Am anymore. I can sure tell a difference from other pump gas. Ethanol is for drinking.

I like chain saws. Keep them clean and maintained. Get chain sharpening files and guide and keep the chain sharp. Dont hit the dirt with the bar, or abuse it.

Funny how I hear people and so called professional trimmers running there saws. You can tell by the sound they have real dull chains and dont even sharpen them

Yep! That's where I used to fill up my Harley. It ran much better on that gas.

You're going to develop some great 'chopping muscles' with that pile.
Are you sure you don't want to invest in a 'log spliter' more mechanical than that maul?

I tried getting my daughters to split some wood. That's as mechanical as I can afford.

I figure an hour after work every evening, and I'll have it all split before it snows.

That is the dedicated approach, used to do that myself.
An hour a day, on the wood pile.

I have been using my Farm Boss for almost 30 years...a number of worn out bars and a pile of worn out chains.

I have a much smaller Stihl with about a 16" bar for smaller stuff, limb trimming, etc. I can easily use it one-handed. Trying to use the BOSS for small stuff will bust your ass. When I go to begin cutting I take a small toolbox with bottles of bar oil, the tools for adjusting the chain, lots of hard plastic wedges, a shot filled deadblow hammer, pre-mixed fuel, spare spark plugs, spare chain and other small possibles. The plastic wedges are a must have.
