Interesting story.
My uncle still alive was given a bronze star for an action that took place in the Huertgen Forrest Germany. The award came with a type writer written citation with misspelled words, mistakes typed over, the work of an Army clerk explaining in detail what he did, I've read it myself. I'll bet if you look around you'll find a written citation for the bronze star. Getting a silver star during WWII would for sure of had a written citation with it. My uncle didn't receive the bronze star and several lesser metals until eleven years after the war. He received a letter stating records show we owe you a bronze star, it's in the mail. |

That was your longest video Bob.
Had to load it twice. First time it ended at 9 min. something. Clicked on the url and loaded it again, moved the bar to where the other quit. Didn't know it but the first was starting back up where it had quit. Had two windows with the same thing going. Fraction of a second difference, quite an echo. Finally stopped one and continued with the other. Funny thing, about medals, lots of ex service men that received them didn't really put much store in the stories that went with them. A lot like your Dad and his Bronze Star. Real good friend of mine, survived Okinawa, had a pile of medals. "What did you get those medals for?" Shrugging, "For being there." That was the end of it. Found out later he was the only survivor of his original company. Went from S.Sgt. to Captain, in one campaign. Battlefield commission. Back stateside, reverted to M.Sgt., he only had an 8th grade education. |

I'm glad you liked it. It sure did bring a rush of old memories back for me. - I'm just glad that my dad and I for the most part always got along.
You know when I was younger I looked at my dads metals often. But he didn't care about them, and they were kept in an old box in the basement. I distinctly remember the Silver Star, as it looked like the Bronze Star, but it had a little silver star in the middle of it. - Those original medals along with all his censored war letters to my mom, either got lost or stolen when the family moved to Florida. I still had my dads DD214, and I wrote a letter to my congressman at the time, including a copy of it, and all the other documentation I could find, and asked if the medals could be replaced. About a year later, I received ALL of my dads medals and decorations EXCEPT the Silver Star. You see, it did not appear on the DD214, as it was I guess still being processed when he got out. And I was told that all his records had been lost in a government warehouse fire....so, that was that. |

That was a good video. I see you live in Florida now. Are you going to search for and make a movie on the swamp monster?

I probably won't be looking for any Skunk Apes...but I will be out in the swamps when it cools off a bit. Swamps don't scare me none. Hell, not much scares me when I got my M14 and .45 with me.

I just sat and watched your video again, for nostalgia sake.
One of the few where you didn't feature Ripley the Wonder Dog! |
