Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Lots of 'inexpensive' rounds have plated bullets.
Low velocity ammo?
It's a great alternative to the 'expensive' copper jackets.

The final decision will have to be up to the shooter, and
the barrel condition after extensive use.

Hardball is great, but I still like to play around with magic bullets.

My current favorite is a 185 gr. Hornady XTP on top of Unique. It exits the barrel at close to 1,000 fps. Coyotes don't like it, though.
I thought I read that or heard that before. Mr. Browning wanted the 200 grain.. Ah what did he know about guns anyway?
Also think I read, Mr. Browning did not want the grip safety, but the Military insisted on it? True false.. ??

True.

People often point to the Hi Power as proof Browning had no use for the grip safety.

No grip safety on the Tokarov which is based on the Browning designs ( with the addition of the very desirable removable fcg group).

Actually no safety on the Tok at all, they consider the beefed up half cock the safety and in view of their doctrine for handgun use I pretty much agree.

Back in '58 or so CPT Cooper ( Yeah that one) advised me to emulate the Texas Rangers and either tie or pin th grip safety closed. carried that way cocked and locked for well over 10 years without a problem.

I wouldn't advise anyone to do that today, there are other solutions to the problem.

I don't mind the grip safety, but I used one for a long time. I like my hi-power better however. The grip just fit's my hand better. If one was made in .45 it would be about perfect.

My Ballester-Molina is, in my opinion, the refinement of the 1911 design.

It has a swinging link trigger, and no grip safety. Basically, it is a 1911 on top (slide and loading i.e. magazines) and a Star on the bottom.

I carried that pistol from coast to coast and from Washington St. to Southern Arizona. It might need a new recoil spring, but it digests everything I feed it and operates with every magazine I've ever stuck in it - including the el-cheapo no-namos.

I'm still debating whether or not to put better sights on it. At one time, I was considering a .400 Corbon conversion for it, but changed my mind.

My Ballester-Molina Sanders has no grip safety either. Wonder if I could put a lighter spring in it?
My right arm is going fast, shoulder replacement coming up.. Damn that spring is strong in it..
Takes two guys the size of Merc to rack the damn thing.. One to hold it, other to rack the slide..
Wonder if it would be safe with a lighter spring? Damn thing is built like a tank..

If you are shooting those 200 gr. bullets, you might be able use a 14 lb. spring on it without trouble.

Yes plan on staying with the 200 grain.. Think the spring in their now is a 50lb the way it feels.. Maybe someone replaced it?

Have you checked to see if it is double sprung?

I had a custom piece like that.
The reason for them was to help digest hot loads.
