Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Ruger security six SS 6" 1977

this revolver is in the original box and shipping box mint condition BUT it locks up tight but the cylinder can be rolled the other direction like a reverse pawl on a single action it appears somebody did this intentionally 4 gunsmiths and Ruger have looked at it.It has been torn down completely nothing broke or weakened. If you cock the hammer the latch will lift up and lock the cylinder firmly until trigger is pulled and it will work in double action in perfect time.Anybody ever seen this before?

Welcome to the Bunker!

I'm not quite understanding what is going on with your Security Six.

Are you saying you can turn the cylinder freely when the hammer isn't cocked?

Or, is it that (as looked at from behind) the cylinder turns counter-clockwise when cocked vs. clockwise for a single action revolver?

If it is the second, then all Ruger double actions rotate counter clockwise, while all single actions rotate clockwise (unless some modifications have been made, as you mention above).

If it is a free turning cylinder, then it sounds like something is broken.

Reads like a "Free Pawl" installation.

Default Security six SS 6inch

It is hard to describe but i'll try again it locks up tight and you can fire double or single action But when it is just locked tight like it is supposed to be you can roll it backwards like the cylinder latch doesn't go completely in the notch on the cylinder I have changed the latch twice I have taken it to a top gunsmith and custom gun builder and I have ordered another latch but this time I have ordered a new plunger and spring should be here tomorrow thanks for the reply

I hope you ordered the spring too.

It's hard to tell what it is w/o looking at it though.

Mail it back to Ruger with a note inside that says "Fix my gun."
