First frost last night at my place
Sept. 24, 2016 -- first frost
Tomatoes and chile plants will be done, now. I only got one ripe big tomato, but lots of little cherry tomatoes. The tomato plant with the big ones is full of green fruit. I doubt they will ripen. I never did get much in the way of chiles this year. Flowers on the plants, still, but minimal fruit - not enough to can anything. My most prolific plants this year were my strawberries. They love being in the tractor tire.

Got cold down in the flatlands? Up here on the mountain it only got down to 36, but at the bottom of my road there was frost on the gate. I'm almost ready for winter, just need to cut a little more firewood.
This year the squirrels and rats are packing the pinon and acorns away a whole bunch more than last year. I'm thinking and hoping we are in for a long hard winter. A good winter always makes the weak city folk move back to where they belong. |

Heh! I always say a good snowpack in the winter makes the For Sale signs grow in the spring.
