In Praise of High Capacity Pistols
The other day, I had to drive up to Santa Fe from Albuquerque for a job site visit. I stopped at the one rest area, just outside of Santa Fe, to take a leak before my meeting.
In the parking lot were 3 vans with signs on them saying they were (what I translate them as) "Wetback Express" from Tucson, Arizona. Standing around the rest area were a bunch of mestizos - dark-skinned Indian-mix wetbacks. Since Sanders no longer takes a day off, I was comforted by having the Springfield XD45 (13 +1 rounds of .45 ACP) inside my waistband in a Don Hume clip holster. It was hidden under my jacket. I slipped a couple extra 13 round magazines into my coat pocket before I got out of the pickup and walked into the men's room. Plenty of firepower to get me back to my pickup and the AR-15 behind the seat, if I needed more help. I've been in the Southwest pretty much my entire life, and have wandered the streets of many of the cities and wandered around different border towns inside Mexico. I understand the mexican language but never let them know I can speak-a. I have never felt as threatened by a bunch of mexicans as I did there. They were a bunch of shit-talkers, posturing and trying to look tough and even contemplating rolling the Gringo. When one of them mentioned that, I turned a looked him in the eyes and gave him a big shit-eating grin. He turned away and walked quickly back toward one of the vans. Hyenas know the Lion. There were around 20 of those bastards in MY country, acting like they owned it. Shit's getting ready to Hit The Fan. Be prepared. I've never felt undergunned by packing a 6-shooter, but dang if having more than twice the ammo a six-shooter carries wasn't comforting in that particular situation. Edited to add: It was this situation that prompted me to post the link to the video here: http://dirtydozensbunker.com/showthread.php?t=150334

Extra mags are a comfort when the odds are so high.

You did good. The stupid Wets do not understand we can legally carry here where they cannot in Wet Back land. Yup the animals are coming here by the millions.
I understand Spanish also if they speak slow. Not real well but I get the picture. Florida rest stops got so bad with muggings and assaults they now have 24/7 security.

Yes best to put a round in the air then call the L.O.s and say they tried to jump and mug yah. First call usually wins.

My old Ruger P85 is dead on at intermediate range.
Yep, it's the ONLY high cap AND 9mm in my immediate vicinity. |

Cartel shits deserve one in the throat so they can lay there paralyzed choking on their vile blood without the chance to talk to either G-d or their boss. They really cover the bases of F'd up.

Good show Sanders!
Because a second gun is the fastest reload known, I might be found carrying a pair of KelTec P-11's, on occasion. purely for balance and symmetry of course. Not range guns and not to be carried if actually expecting trouble, that's what shotguns and carbines are for. Plenty accureate at SD ranges, and easier carry than the pair of 1911's they replaced. Plus with self defence distances averaging three to fifteen feet, not a lot of pinpoint accuraccy is required. Actually if a person can put 5 rounds into 5 inches, at five yards in 5 seconds, they're good to go for self defense. Beyond that hitting a verticle 8.5 by 11 sheet of typing paper every time, marks your maximum engagement range for that weapon in your hands. Judges and juries tend to look askance at folks claiming a downed mugger at 20 yards was truly a self defense necessity And every one should know what their maximum "point shooting" distancs is because sometimrs there is NO time to futz around with a perfect sight picture. As always, JMHO YMMV and that's okay too. Regards, ... |

It seams like shit is happening every where today, my neighbor just told me someone went to the trouble to put a battery and fuel into his old bulldozer and got it running enough to see that its operational. He asked me about uninvited dirt bag's who might need a load of buckshot. Our camp is in the perverable boonies and is usually quite as a church mouse.

I've taken to carrying three spare 8 round mags for my 1911-A1. Plus the 8 rounder +1 in the pipe already cocked, locked & ready to go to work.
We've been getting a lot of shit coming here out of shitcongo lately and they bring nothing but trouble with them. That and Murderapolis is getting pretty bad too. Lots of shootings going down all over the place up there, but mostly in North Minneapolis. Situational awareness will keep you alive. |

I have packed a Combat Commander for years until recently when I built a 3.5" and 4.25" .45 on ParaOrdnance double stack frames. The extra ammo almost pulls my britches down. I carry a P-64 at work because all of us are armed there (not far from TweakerVille)
