Went up into the Jemez Mountains and camped, yesterday
Wife and I loaded up our camping gear and took off to the Jemez (pronounced Hay-mez) mountains yesterday. We drove around, 4-wheeling for a bit, then found an isolated spot on a road I had to move some downed trees off of to travel up. Then we set up camp for the night and came back down this afternoon.
Stopped at a fish hatchery to air my tires back up (lower air pressure makes for such a nicer ride off road) and then headed on home. This is the first time in years that I have not had rain, snow, or hail after I set up camp. It was kind of nice. The dogs chased squirrels and we found a lot of elk sign, but didn't see any elk, except for a small herd of slow elk walked by the camp as it was getting dark. There were some elk beds and antler scrapes on the other side of the knoll we were camped next to. Found some bear scat, but it was probably a couple weeks old.

Sounds like fun. I enjoyed camping at high elevations this year.
