Shellholders
I was wondering how many of you guys know which shell holder's are interchangeable. Since I buy mostly Lee dies each set comes with a shell holder. So I have a lot of shell holder's for the .45ACP, because the .308, .243, 30-06 and 8mm Mauser all use the same one. They fit other calibers too. I do have one shell holder that only fit one shell and that is the .45 auto rim. 10mm, .357/38 can be interchanged most of the time. Of course 9mm and .380ACP are the same. What others that you guys know of, I'm here to learn as much as any of ya.

I haven't tried to really figure it out. I wish the all manufacturers would agree to assign the same number to each specific size of holder, but that ain't a gonna happen. I usually just get out a Midway catalog to find out which shell holder I need. I have a bunch of different brands. And shell holders is something that just about never wears out. I picked up a big box of assorted shell holders at a garage sale one time. I think I bought it for about fifty cents or a buck.

You can always go to your local dealer, and use the RCBS conversion chart usually posted near the shellholders. You could contact RCBS, and ask for a copy of the conversion chart. Granted it will give you the RCBS numbers, but you can use it as a cross reference for whatever you do use.

That's why I like the Midway catalog so much. You can use it as a reference guide as well as to order something from. And it's sitting right there on yer reloading bench - well at least mine.
