I think the simple solution is to avoid Facebook. Outlawing it would backfire.

I use it and have no problem with it. So do millions of others.

Sometimes companies share data with Facebook. Other times a hidden cookie will be placed on your computer by the seller's website that can be read on Facebook's website. Shazam, the same item you looked at on Amazon will appear on Facebook. It's called the "Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA)".

People need to how to set their computer privacy and how to block tracking cookies. There is nothing you can do if Amazon or any other business you deal with shares your information with Facebook. Nevertheless, if you don't put your private information out there, it's not going to get spread around.

My daughter invited me to become a facebooker as a way to keep in touch. When Marc Emery got busted, the DEA took all his servers. I changed my user name.

I use (fb) to keep in touch with old friends and family...my objection to their activities is the censorship of content and language. Mostly a good experience but should I discuss some 'gender challenged' politicians in a critical manner, not actually rude but unkindly, or make fun of the content of some screaming liberal then I get dinged. Censored actually, and no-one has a right to censor an American Citizen's language if it's not threatening...or even overly vulgar. Even laughing with the 'precious snowflakes' and making fun of their antics is frowned upon.

Yes they can set their own standards of conduct and speech. We do in this forum. We don't allow members to post nudity or post other forum websites. We don't allow liberals to join this forum and spout anti firearm crap. We can control what speech is allowed on this forum and what isn't.

Facebook can control what content is allowed on their website as well.

Yes, I generally agree with you, however, (fb) has become a quasi "official" site for several U.S. Government agencies, specifically in my case, the Veterans Administration; where their 'toxic-liberal' ideology is made to appear to be "official" government policy by their enforcement.

I was in a hurry and probably stated that backwards; (fb) is attempting a 'quasi government' status...their involvement in VA affairs is extensive.
