Potato soup
I had a friend that grew up in the Appalachians and he told me that when someone came down with a cold that potato soup was the first line of defense. He swore that it cures the cold. I like potato soup and it makes me feel better when I am not feeling well.
Last week we had our granddaughters over for a few days. The three were in different stages of a cold. Anyhow my wife started feeling puny a few days ago so today I made her some potato soup. I wanted something quick and tasty and it turned out very tasty. I didn't use bacon but instead used butter for the bacon drippings. Here's the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-P...up/Detail.aspx

I like potato soup. My recipe is a little different, but it's all good.

That's something else good out of a slow cooker. There has to be a ton of recipes and they're all good.
Hmmmm thinking about a pot soon. Thanks for the idea, RTO! Brian

My wife uses the potato soup recipe my mom used, good stuff especially during the cold weather months.

In my last few pots of tater soup I shredded the potato instead of cutting them up into cubes. Makes for a thicker soup without the need for using flour or some type of thickener.

That's the same recipe I use.
I do substitute Velveta in place of the cheddar, because it melts better.
