RPK the beginning
This is an RPK in the making
This is the internal support for the receiver I use, and the clamping to prevent vibration. I have one for the standard AK receiver also Here’s the front trunion fitted Another of the front trunion

Wish I had a vertical milling machine and all the hardware ... did you bend the RPK receiver, what's the wall thickness?
Ought to be a fine receiver when complete. |

That's a Bob Ibe bent blank .064" That's my small knee mil the other is 9"X 48" It's a Beaver by Balding, English made. Yes I've heard all the jokes about a balding beaver LOL |

That's not balding it's shaved !!!!!
I don't much care what it is ,I'd love to have one back in my shop !!! Them .064s are good but they are a little harder to work than the .042 or the .050 !!! Can't wait to see it when ya get it done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

The receiver is still over length at this stage Both sides are relief cut for the rear trunion A balding beaver LOL Bolt carrier removal slots different angle |

The receiver is cut to length
Checked for square after the cut Final fitting of the rear trunion and Bolt carrier Bracing for receiver so I can cut it in the band saw |

I've had that Sears vise for years. and the "little square" came in a lot of tools I bought on Ebay.
The Vise was lined up as close as i could get it with the 1 1/4 aluminum bar. I put a long mill in and shaved the stationary jaw. That put it less than .001" overall for a 10.25" receiver. It stays permanently mounted on the left side. The little vise floats, and just stablizes the tail end of the receiver for level. |

I have worked with a mill and lathe for many years and I know it ain't that easy !!!!!! |
