Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Anyone eat Tilapia....

http://fishcooking.about.com/od/meet.../p/tilapia.htm

Very mild fish, that does not have a fishy taste.
Cant catch them with a rod and reel, so they gig or net them here.
Also use bow and arrows with a reel set up.
Easy too spear them at night.
Guys ride on the bow of the boat, in the clear springs, with a light.
They get attracted too the light, then you jam the gig through their backs.
Tough call on the farm raised, store bought Tilapia.
farmers and hog farmers like them in their ponds, so you get the hint on what they feed them.
But wild Tilipia is some good eating.

Wild is a good eat. Had it when I was down your way.
But the farm raised crap they sell in restaurants up here is a joke.

Most of what's sold retail is from china. I watched a Dirty Jobs episode that showed a fish farm in commipornia. First they raised stripped bass then the put in the talapia to eat 60% of the fecal matter.

My guess the talapia from china aint eating fish shit.

I used to use bow & arrow to catch them when I was in Hawaii, I liked them but the locals wouldn't eat them, they are not native to Hawaii but they are from Africa and was imported to Hawaii to eat the vegetation in the irrigation canals. More alien animals.

Have to read the label and see where they come from. If it's from the orient I don't buy it, some are grown locally, I showed a house long ago that had a tilapia farm. Heck, if it was up to me I would turn my pool into a tilapia tank.

Yes. My buddy has a pond over our way we were going too turn into a Tilaipia farm. He up and died, so I canceled that.
You probably could do it in your pool aviator. Neighbors may give yah some weird looks, but what the hell, sell em fish.
DorGunR. Kind of a good invasive species. They eat the weeds here.
Problem we have is "Shelback catfish."
River cats are a big money industry on the Saint Johns. These things are taking over and nobody has had the stomach too eat one yet.

The wild tilapia that I've eaten in africa was always very good. The farmed stuff I've tasted here at home is usually not very pleasant. Probably fed with shit or something...

Hey Erik, what's Norway's take on farm raising salmon? They loose tons of money when Chile start farm raising it? A while back I read a virus killed off most all of Chile's salmon farms. During the time it took for it to get back on line we were selling Norwegian again.

Default boon.

Think they were blocking off those fiords over there and raising the salmon.
Norwegian salmon is some good eatin.
Good idea if they are. Pretty secure from thieves.
Only way in is by boat. Riding the train over there it was a about 15 miles straight down too the water, so they aint coming that way.

I've never eaten Tilapia that I caught. I've eaten store bought and it tastes like carp caught in a river. I don't care for the texture of the meat. I like cold freshwater fish and some saltwater fish.
