A little buzz
A week or so ago, after a shitload of dead leaves fell all over the Cruiser, a
slight but very distinct buzz developed in the cabin. My rather poor hearing heard that it was emanating from the passenger's side heating/ac duct outlet. So naturally, I surmised that a dead leaf had found its way into the duct and was caught up somewhere and was fluttering in the airflow. Well, getting it out was going to be a real pain in the arse, so being the lazy s.o.b. that I am, I did diddly squat about it, convincing myself that said dead leaf would eventually break up and find it's own way out. Then the buzz changed a little, and was only heard upon acceleration (light or heavy) and would ease up and stop if I held the throttle at a constant speed, or just plain backed off. Kim was absolutely driven to distraction by the buzzing whenever she rode as a paaenger, and informed me the buzzing was coming from behind the center of the dash. Uh-oh! The spectre of Big Bucks loomed its ugly head and I started to worry. Yesterday afternoon, we were on a mission in the Cruiser, and she started sniffing around. She loosened her seat-belt and got her head down low (not for THAT!), fiddled around then came back up with the announcement, "There! Fixed it!" And indeed she had. Now, if you've had the patience to read thus far, there is an amazing cash prize for the first person to come up with the correct solution that she found, or the one who comes closest to it. I will shut down the offer at 4:15 pm tomorrow with the real answer. BTW - Kim is an amazing woman - she always finds my lost stuff - but then I always find her lost earrings.

Only when you accelerate? Sounds like a loose vacuum line.

Air filter.
Had a piece of paper fall into the dash on my Dodge pickup that sounded like that Richard but I'm sure I'm wrong. |

A hidden microphone planted by James Comey himself.
The black Suburbans are probably just around the corner.

Okay, gentlemen - CLOSED!!
No-one came close, although azhonkey came up with a sound remarkably like a mobile phone charger not in use and therefore sitting in the forward cup holder in the center console, vibrating against an unused nut & bolt also in the cup holder. How it started isn't obvious, but is understandable; why it continued for nearly a week without becoming dislodged is something of a mystery. Why I heard it coming from the far side of the dash can only be attributed to the fact that 'I'm an old man...I get confused' as Uncle Leo claimed on Seinfeld once. As, in my judgement, the said Mr. Honkey came closest, and also because he used a nice illustration, Mr. Honkey may claim the amazing cash award by contacting me by email from his personal (non BBB) email account. |

Mr. Honkey, AZ has not yet claimed his prize.
If not claimed within the next...oh, let's say...48 hours (this time Saturday evening), I'll have no recourse but to donate the prize funds to another well deserving cause. |
