Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Any members make their own bread?

A bit time consuming but with a bit of work you can have bread for the whole week. Plus add honey use whole wheat, etc. for great breads.
I used to bake bread then just stopped but might start again. You can do it.

My wife used to make bread all the time using a bread machine. There are lots of neat bread recipes you can make in one.

Then I went on my low to no wheat diet, and that pretty much put the kabosh on fresh, warm buttered bread.

I have made French bead from scratch, takes a while to knead and let it raise, do it again, then roll it and bake. I can go to Publix and buy the same bread very cheaply.

Yup Fred Publix has beyond excellent breads. I would not doubt if they shipped it from the good waters up north and baked it here?
Their subs and bread are something to go out of your way to get.

I make a number of different breads just because I like to. I also make tortillas, pita bread, and other baked goods when in the mood.

Good man RetVet I also love to cook. Baking is a whole different A.O. to get into. Geez we can kind of live on bread, some veggies, and small amounts of meats and fish, etc.
Our bread is the equivalent of rice as a staple in the Orient. Geez I love Oriental food as it is super fresh and good cooked properly.

Made some yesterday. It was nasty cold and I was bored.

This is honey wheat bread. The kids love it. It's not hard to make. Just time consuming. I kind of like the kneading part though.

The stuff on top is butter, it keeps the top crust from getting hard. The one in the middle has cinnamon and sugar rolled up in it.

Pretty much. Just about anything that you can buy at the store I can make and do it better. I cure my own meat, make sausage, all sorts of booze, and cut my own meat. I started making bread about a month ago because I was told it was difficult.

I can make a good loaf if I have the time, and I'm in the mood.

Mr Aviator must be tougher than I am.
When it's 92* in Jan, I don't make bread. Used to make it all the time up north.
Unless we're doing one of those three day cold snaps, our oven doesn't get turned on. And then I'll just make some Johnnie cake to take the chill off the house.

I tried making sour dough bread in Cincinnati. The San Francisco sourdough culture will not survive outside there area.
