Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Anyone own or shoot a: Rock Island Full Size Threaded 1911A1 .45ACP

https://www.sarcoinc.com/rock-island...-1911a1-45acp/

Wonder if it would be a good gun to start a custom 1911 and build and replace parts as you have the money?
Hell wonder if it shoots good just as is?

They're good guns for the money.

I've owned one since 2002 or so and it's solid as a rock. I prefer it over the 70 series Colt I used to own. That listed price isn't much more than I paid for mine back then.

I purchased one some years back...My Brother in law and my Brother both shot it ...liked it and both ordered one. Hard to beat for the $$$.

I run 230gr hardball in my 1911's and they all just gobble it up.

If they're still building them like mine you won't regret it.

Thumbs up O.K. finally took the Rock Island to the range.

https://armscor.com/firearms/ria/roc...dard-fs-45acp/

Over all? I love the gun. Hell for $450 out the door it is not a $2,000 Wilson or whatever custom. But it is accurate as all hell and all around tight.
At 50 yards was hitting a 1 foot square target with no problem. Trigger is a bit tight but smooth at around 4.7 lbs. but will break in after shooting I would guess.
Series 70 so none of that Komifornia added safety crap. Just a tad bit of a bite when fired as the gun is built super solid but will probably also get better with rounds through it?
Sarco had them at $389 or so? Would I recommend the weapon? Yes without question. Could always upgrade parts if you feel the need but hell I like it just as it came.
Oh just rubber grips added and I like them.
