NO, I just like my toys to be original. I don't add or take off anything unless it's for repairs. I don't want them to look like Rambo either. an Ar or an AK is already beautiful and functional without lights, lasers, scopes and grenade launchers all combined. Heck, all that crap makes it heavier if you need to haul a load for a couple miles...and you know about doing that.

A dab of blue loctite (tip of a toothpick), on the back of the medallion where the screw goes and tighten the screw 'tight', worked wonders. Haven't had a problem since. |

I have a bare bones AR, set up very similar to the M16a1 I was issued in Basic Training back in '79. Only difference is, A2 Upper receiver, 16" carbine length barrel and 6 position telescoping stock. The other 2 AR's I have, are set up for specific uses. I want to get into 3 gun competition (16" barrel, flat top with full length M-Lok fore grip) and long range (soon to be sporting a 24" bull barrel). The grips on my EDC 1911 (link posted a few comments ago), were added by me because my hands get sweaty and the front of the factory frame (grip area), is smooth. With these grips, my fingers get good placement and my grip is the same every time. This helps a lot during training and, if I were to ever need to draw for self defense use. The rest of my firearms are factory original. |

My daughter was shooting my Springfield Loaded 1911A1 the other day, and the pin that holds the hammer in backed out.
Figured I needed to replace the pins a while back, but that just verified it. Glad it happened while out plinking than in a social situation. I'm not one of those guys who keeps a round count on my firearms, but I'm sure it is probably North of 5,000 since 2001, plus a whole lot of dry fire practice and carrying around. A new pin set by Wilson or Ed Brown is only around $15 or so. No excuse as to why I hadn't replaced them, but if I want to shoot the IDPA matches at the indoor range near me, I'd better get it done soon.

I have one of these RIA's also and mine has done alright so far. I've made no mods from factory.
