Yo Dinky here we go..
Got rid of the Santa picts.. Left side right side... No U.S. markings.
But this odd car-touche. On the barrel and receiver. I researched it, but no explanation, as too the stamp.. Does anyone know??? Tried to buy a bayonet at the last fun show. No go... Got guys looking. Do not think the barrel was cut. Still have too replace the screw. Damn. I wish mine had your U.S. markings. So much contradicting info out there on these, I just don't know??? Thank you for any info. 4th...

Give us a good pic of the bayonet adapter. A Winchester should have a "W" series adapter. The Trench guns were equipped with three distinct adapters....depending on the brand/manufacturer of the shotgun. Winchester = W, Stevens = S, or the "Ithaca style." All US Ordinance bayonet adapters were made of steel. Never aluminum. What is the "choke?" Right in front of the receiver it will be marked on the bbl: "Full"..."Cyl"..."Imp"...or "Mod." Correct, Riot and Trench guns will ALL have CYLINDER bores. Marked as "CYL" on left side of bbl. You can glean the manufacturing date using the serial number here: http://marauder.homestead.com/Model97sn.html

1897 Winchester riot gun - made 1905. Carried by great-grandfather when he was Constable of Ajo, Arizona.

Sanders those are real nice weapons.. Wish these weapons could talk, they would have some stories too tell.
thank you. Think I already mentioned. Winchester had a fire in the records room, on the serial number listings. According too the Cody Museum, happened back in the 70s. They were issued too Police, Border Agents like Sanders has, Military. Guess I will never figure the history. But they sure are some solid well made weapons. |
