I caught a YouTube post by the
![]() I cheaped out and bought the Armaspec unit. On reading the post I took out the Armaspec unit to replace it with the original buffer and spring and got a nasty surprise. Since I got the unit I’ve hardly shot the rifle if at all. All its wear is from removing the chambered round for legal transport and chambering a fresh round when it was legal to do so. The Armaspec has a rubber ring on the front of the buffer and after less than a year of low speed cycling it has significant wear. This isn’t even the primary issue with these products. The primary issue is they wear on the buffer tubes and break through on these synthetic stocks. Other commenters claimed all flat buffer springs excessively wear all buffer tubes. The (at the time) $130 JP captive buffer springs do not do this according to the discussion group. The (at the time) $80 Armaspec units are said to fall apart even in aluminum lowers. Just an FYI. If your flat spring or Armaspec units work, I’m happy for you. For me I have a crap extra CBS until I get a JP unit. If the acronyms are nonsense to you, the three lowers are three company’s polymer AR lowers beginning around 2000 with the Cavalry Arms lowers that were screwed together in Arizona. That company ran afoul of the ATF. GWACS in Tulsa obtained the rights to them and vibrationally welded the halves together. Their tooling wore out around the time InRangeTV used their lower for an ultralight weight AR project. Brownell is selling an updated version of InRangeTV’s version in complete rifle form, stripped lowers, lowers with GI parts or lowers with boutique parts. In either black or FDE. Every time the lower moves to another company it loses color options. The good news for most potential customers is the grip is now very much MagPul MOE like.
