The specs of these are :
17" deep (16" cut of knotty 3/4" thick alder plywood for the sides + 1/4" knotty alder plywood back + 13/16" knotty alder face frame stock) they are 8' tall and they are going to be installed on a platform of 2x4's and that combined with the crown molding im going to put on will make them over 9' tall. the top compartments will have spring assisted wardrobe lifts. |

Looking good. I like the look of Alder, in any form.
Nice garage, too. Brian

thank you sir
I worked on the cabinets for 7 hours today......i glued, wood biscuit and pocket screwed all the face frames on the cabinets and sanded 2 of them....what a fawking tedious pain in the ass sanding these huge cabinets is........i was sweating my ass off wearing a dusk mask and had a towel around my neck to absorb the sweat.......I sand them first with 80 grit, then 150 and finally with 220....gives a very smooth finish. I use a quarter sheet and half sheet makita electric sander.......random orbital sanders gouge the work piece for me and i don't use them except to remove blobs of glue and take down high spots.. i have another 8 hour day of this for tomorrow....ill post pics. |

Now I love pocket screws. It's a lot quicker to assemble a cabinet that way instead of making a rabbit joint on the face and gluing it together. And it's plenty strong. |
