A new virus??
I am here in "Safe Mode."
The latest windoz 7 update has paralyzed my desktop. I made several partially successful attempts to keep it from loading. It gave me the usual "dont turn off your computer as windoz is attempting to complete an important upgrade." I was able to stop THAT 5-6 times....until it nailed me on startup. I am unable to run anti-virus as it won't even start. It has been a long time since I have had to run in startup mode. Fuck me. Now what?

Ah shit. I think Windows stopped supporting Win7.
Can you go back to a reset point from safe mode? Do you have CCleaner installed on it? It lets you go back to a previous config from within that program. I have an old laptop with W7, if that doesn't work I'll turn it on and try to guide you on how to do it.

If you have multiple user accounts, you will need to sign in with the administrator account to do the system restore.
Otherwise it will not let you do it. If you're already signed in on administrator, then I'm not sure what to do.

I'm also assuming the full update installed properly and didn't glitch out half way through?

I deleted any upgrade that was newer than 8.01.19. And some Chrome . Restarted and THAT took about ten minutes....So...for the moment all is well. Ran anti virus program and malware eliminator...for the moment I seem good to go.
It seems impossible to limit windoz "upgrades" to ASK me before installing them. Everything else is set up to "ask first" before an install. WTF?? |

Chrome is notorious for collecting your information and delivering it straight into Nancy Pelosi's bank of personal servers, so that any and all information can and will be used against you.
Do a search on Chrome, and the item you searched for will show up on every advertisement you get from now to doomsday. |

Sometimes updates take a long time, just have to wait. Do you have CCleaner installed?

If you interrupted the update process, you could have corrupted important system files. It’s normal for Winders to put that “do not shut down” warning up while it’s updating.

And Win7 is still supported until the first part of January, I believe.

It was not a windoz update. It was some kind of malware or virus. It was s disguised to look like a windoz update.
