Hey guys been along time sense my last post, ok couple years or about now, started a new shop and all heck has been beating me up.well actually I bought a shop that has been going strong for 35 years, and I am the only employe for now until my bank account gets big enough to hire, so I am working 10 hour day six days a week building, fixing, and selling.
So anyways, I just drove to century the other day and picked one of these shotguns up to convert for a customer. I have done many Saiga rifles, but this is for sure a different beast, so I just have a few questions for ya before I start cutting so to speak. I get how most the conversion is done, pretty straightforward, but I am hung on two things.#1 the stock, can I mod a existing ace adaptor to work with this? Or am I going to have to rivit a new trunnion in there?#2 on Saiga rifles I just ground the old trigger guard off the bottom plate you remove for the conversion and drilled holes into the thing and mounted that instead of buying a new guard as it looks good and saves on cost and works good. Can you salvage this guard too and drill it to work with the existing holes in the receiver from the old rivits? Or is there something I am overlooking? Looks like there is enough meat on the tabs on the ends of the guard to drill if removed from the plate right, but is it wide enough to stretch from hole to hole to be welded on or bolted on is the question. Also I have no clue if the grip will bolt up tight to the guard close enough to look right, but I guess if I have to mill the receiver for the grip nut that could be adjusted just right. It seems this could all be done with time, but I don't have much of that, so I would rather kick tires before burning them off so to speak. All the prefabricated guards just seem way to over priced for what they are , so if I could do this without getting ripped so bad I want to. |

The Catamount trunnion is a proprietary unit and fits only the Catamount stock. The rear trunnion holes are almost right for a normal fixed stock trunnion but it will be placed out about 1mm too far to the rear... I had to grind the plastic on the stock to fit. Your trigger guard idea should work... may have to be creative.... You'll have to mock everything up to see if the grip will line up nice.
